Welcome to our latest newsletter that will give you the lowdown on what we’ve been up to lately, and hopefully pose some questions to open debate about hotel design.
We’d love your feedback on any of these topics, so do contact us at E: email@example.com or via our facebook page, or visit our website, https://twoscompanyinteriordesign.com and do let us know if we can help out with any of your projects.

Our Hotel Room of the Future at the Independent Hotel Show
We had a fantastic response to our Hotel Room of The Future that we designed for the IHS last month. The concept was to look at designing for the near future, so we incorporated practical ideas that enveloped the latest Tech (see our Tech feature below), an incredible wow-factor bathroom, and luxury fittings and furniture that independent hoteliers could take inspiration from. Gilly, who is President of the BIID, gave a talk on the future of hotel design with Rodney Hoinkes, Chief Insight and Innovation Officer of Fresh Montgomery, the show’s organisers, and Petra Clayton, Managing Director of Custard Communications. Gilly explained how the room we built could be installed much quicker than conventional room designs, bringing a speedier return on investment. A hotel room bathroom typically takes three weeks to fit out, for example, but with the new Corian® system that we used in this room, the down-time is just three days. Corian® is totally waterproof, easily cleaned and maintained, and also easily repaired should any damage occur. The stand was really busy throughout the show; a fantastic endorsement to all our team’s hard work to help us realise our vision for the room.
We’ve been shortlisted for a Hotel Designs Britlist Award 2018
We’re delighted to have been nominated for a Hotel Designs Britlist Award this year in the Influencer category. The awards feature some of the biggest names behind the UK’s most notable hotels and chains and the creative minds behind their celebrated interiors and architectural structures. DL APP TAP, who we featured in our Hotel Room of the Future at the recent IHS, are sponsoring the Tech Award and will be there demonstrating this new App that allows guests to tap items they want to buy in their hotel rooms. The ceremony takes place on November 22nd …. so fingers crossed!
Designing for the future … treat Tech like any other craft
OK, Tech can seem daunting. So many people – and that includes hoteliers – are scared of it! But if you’re a hotelier you really need to bite the bullet and embrace the latest Tech as it can make the running of your business so much easier and be a huge boost to the services your guests can expect. Don’t be put off by maintenance worries, that can all be taken care of with the easy to install packages that we design for individual hotels. Think of Tech just like any other craft involved in creating a hotel room. Like the expert techniques used in cabinetry, in furniture design, in bed making and bathroom fittings – Tech is just the same. Just leave it to the experts, the Tech craftspeople.
Hotel design isn’t just about comfort and decoration, it’s also about practicality. We plan a room according to its needs and what the guest is looking for in the 21st Century. As we design the bed, the bathrooms and wardrobes, we also incorporate as a matter of course the technology demanded of the Hotel. We include our Tech Team of leading integrated technology experts Crestron and Smartcomm in the very early stages. We discuss with them and the Hotelier the practical needs of an efficient and fully functioning service from Front of House to the efficiency of running the room itself to benefit the guest via Housekeeping.
Think about installing a Tech Wall – a complete package in one
We designed a fabulous Tech Media Wall with Smartcomm and Crestron for our Hotel Room of The Future at the IHS. A Tech Wall design is a fast and efficient way to integrate Tech into any hotel room. The service we provide ensures that the hotelier doesn’t need to go to multiple contractors; the full Hotel Room package with support and second-to-none service can be organised by us, reassuring hoteliers that all systems are seamlessly interlinked from the start. Tech Walls can be built off-site and transported in with all background wiring in place ready to hook up for fast and efficient connections to all central facilities. We know that few hoteliers like any work that requires ceiling work, and these cables can easily be installed beneath the flooring. Installing a bespoke Tech Wall saves both time and money – highly important in a hotel fit-out.
Simple, hassle-free smart Tech that guests can understand
We ensure that the Tech we incorporate in our hotel rooms is as easy to understand as possible. It’s important to keep technology simple – the last thing people want are lights that they can’t turn off and confusing Tech. For our Hotel Room of The Future design, all three spaces were interconnected with clever Tech elements throughout for a seamless, stress-free stay for the guest. From checking in to their super- luxe room using thumb recognition or their phone, to being able to order room service or book a table for dinner via simple touch pads, or buy any item they like in the room with a quick tap of their phone using the DL APP TAP, the features brought to life what the future could look like in hotel design.
The integral lights worked to give a layered look to the lighting together with the LED strip and pelmet at the top of the walls. Should the guest wish to watch their own content on the TV, they can. We also used a stylish, Switchable Privacy Glass panel from Smartglass International to open up the space between the bathroom and the bedroom. It can be adjusted by the guest from transparent to opaque in less than 0.01 seconds.
Simple Tech solutions that really enhance the guest experience and help your business to run so much more smoothly. Worth thinking about…
